8:00pm every FIRST Saturday of the month from Oct 2016-Apr 2017
One Lions explores the metaphorical and metaphysical spaces that exist in all relationships. To put it another way, we take a dangerous longform improv journey. Like going on safari with ground beef in the trunk.
Tickets $10/$5 students, cash only at the door. The Kinkonauts Lab is located on the 2nd floor of the former Movie Poster Shop building (with King Kong). Parking and entrance are at the rear of the building.
Stephen Kent and Covy Holland, along with pianist Eric Nyland, create a harrowing story from a simple audience suggestion. The story moves backwards and forwards in time. Along the way creatures come out to play. Talking tigers, cheerleaders, pilots, Dr. Giraffe, Tommy Antelope Esq., your mother and your father. It’s your story we’re telling, if your story was directed by Wes Anderson and scored by the ghost of Chopin, the SCARY GHOST OF CHOPIN!
8:00pm every SECOND Saturday of the month
The Kinkonauts will trade in their jeans for Elizabethan short pants and create an improvised Shakespearean play on-the-spot, based on an audience suggestion.
Tickets $10/$5 students. Cash only at the door. Parking lot and entrance at rear of building.
We are Calgary’s Improv Lab: a longform improvisational theatre troupe based in in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We take up residence on top floor of a movie poster shop (The building on 16th that has KING KONG hanging off of it!) and are comprised of more than 40 improvisors and numerous troupes dedicated to creating emotional, grotesque and profound play-skits and make-em-ups.

This hilarious battle of wits is based on true events. The year is 1979, and our hero is Prime Minister Joe Clark: young, idealistic, and stubborn. He's in his office, deciding if he should put his first budget before Parliament. He knows that if he does he could lose everything. Everyone begs him not to do it: his wife, his colleagues… Brian Mulroney, Pierre Trudeau... They tell him he should pull some strings, make some deals. Compromise.
But like we said, he's stubborn.
This sparkling and rowdy political comedy is a hugely relevant debate about leadership and power.

Inspired by events in the life of Mary McCarthy Comez Cueto, Newfoundland Mary celebrates the unique life of a remarkable Canadian who spent her life in exile in her adopted homeland of Cuba. Mary's world is forever changed when she meets Luis Gonzalez, who dreams of singing like Frank Sinatra. The new musical follows the evolving relationship between two people from very different worlds as they discover the importance of music in surviving life's challenges, the value of friendship during times of uncertainty, and the possibility of love at a mature age.
Five performing artist/songwriters will come together to share an intimate acoustic performance and provide the audience with an opportunity to learn more about their life experiences that serve as inspiration for their songs. The Songwriter's Round style of event sets the stage like a living room to listen to acoustic versions of songs and the stories behind them.
Hosted by Tenille, a local singer and songwriter from Grande Prairie, and her charitable organization Big Hearts for Big Kids. She will be joined by: Chad Brownlee, Bobby Wills, JJ Shiplett and Wendell Ferguson.
Big Hearts is all about witnessing the power of people coming together through music to raise funds for an organization giving significant hope and opportunity to youth in need. All proceeds from this event will support the Tim Horton Children's Foundation to empower youth and create stronger communities.

Love. So beautiful. So musical. So complicated. Although forbidden by fairy law, Iolanthe marries a mortal and is then banished from fairyland. Here in our human world, she bears a son; a lovely lad named Strephon, who falls head over heels and wants to marry Phyllis, who is, of course, desired by all the members of the House of Peers. When Phyllis sees Strephon embrace Iolanthe, who is ethereal and lovely, she doesn’t stop for one moment to consider she might be Strephon’s mother and sets in motion a musical clash between politicians and fairies, sending everyone tripping hither, tripping thither – we did mention love can be complicated – it’s an energetic, satirical journey to the finale. Off and away to get your tickets! We’ll see you in Spring for this, the seventh of fourteen collaborations by W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan.

The support to the CANADIAN TRANSPLANT ASSOCIATION is undoubtedly a choice that we have made for life, goiing forward. ORGAN & TISSUE DONATION SAVES LIVES and we need to get this awareness out there. Welcome to the sleepy town of Salem Massachusetts, 1692. Bathsheba Moore was always the outcast- living in the woods, keeping to herself. The townsfolk thought she was insane, and they underestimated her power.
Shunned and ostracized, Bathsheba’s interest in witchcraft and the occult grew. She found that she had incredible talents and she embraced the dark arts. Her power grew stronger and she knew she had to take back the town.
One night, she entered the town and found the cabin of little Lyca Goode and her family. Killing Lyca’s mother was just too easy, but Bathsheba had other plans for Lyca. She would use Lyca to infiltrate the town, drive the townsfolk mad with fear, and turn them against each other. Possessing the girl was more challenging that Bathsheba had counted on- the girl had powers of her own. Now the town is plagued by an evil infestation that turns neighbor against neighbor, sister against sister, and Salem will never be the same.
The Coven by Haunted Calgary is Calgary's largest yard haunt, and one of the longest-running. About 25 years into haunting, this volunteer-run haunt offers up some of the best scares in the city, including a giant animatronic monster you'd expect to see at Universal Studios, not in someone's yard!
The haunt takes most groups approximately 30 minutes to walk through and it's all outdoors so dress warm!
Over 800 volunteer hours go in to building the haunt and acting so that all proceeds can be donated to charity. A suggested donation of $10 for Oops-a-Dazy Rescue and a few cans of food for the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank per person is recommended, but the charities are really happy to receive whatever donation you can manage.
Full scare version is open October 30, 31, and November 1 from 6-10pm at 222 Rocky Ridge Bay NW. Little kids can come through for a low scare event (no actors) October 31 and November 1 from 12-5pm.
Don't forget to trick or treat with the wicked witch to get your candy!
