The festival is an annual 3-day event which screens short films by local, national and international filmmakers. The $100 Film Festival is one of the few remaining festivals in North America that screens movies exclusively with film prints in Super 8 and 16mm formats.

Each evening is a different selection of short films which embody the spirit of low-budget, independent film making. The films vary from narrative to animated to experimental so there is something for everybody!

Birch Mountain Resources has put on the Dragon Boat Races in Calgary at the Glenmore Reservoir since 1992. Every year over 70 teams from across the city and North America join together to help celebrate the festival and to learn about the culture and heritage of China.

Most teams are drawn from local associations, businesses and city organizations. They compete in women's, men's, mixed novice and mixed open divisions. Trophies, medals and victory ribbons are awarded to the finalists. Throughout the festival, spectators can enjoy additional traditional entertainment such as kung fu, Chinese dances and singing, tai chi, fashion shows, and lion dances.

Saturday afternoon hosts the Judging for the BBQ Sauce and Chef's Choice
Competitions.

Then Sunday kicks-off with Main Stage Entertainment featuring local concert
bands, Stampede Talent Search winners, top Canadian blues musicians and
bands.

Other festival activities include Children’s Craft Tent, a BBQ Food Pit &
Coffee Concession, Alberta Producer's BBQ demos, Street Zone and General
Store - goods for sale to the public.
