This timed trial challenges handlers and their stock dogs to move three sheep through a defined course and into a pen, in the fastest time. Keeping the sheep under control and on course can save valuable seconds.
The handler controls the dog, either through whistle or voice commands. The handler must stay in the circle until all the sheep have come through the chute. Time stops when all the sheep are in the pen and the gate is closed.

The Calgary Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada is presenting its annual Heel ‘n’ Wheel-a-Thon.
The goal is to raise money for research and to raise awareness about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, which together are known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Approximately 1 in 160 Canadians are affected by IBD. Canada is believed to have one of the highest rates of IBD in the world. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the two most common forms of IBD. Crohn’s disease involves inflammation of any part of the gastrointestinal tract, while ulcerative colitis involves only the large bowel. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both chronic illnesses. They are painful, and can be socially isolating due to the "embarrassment factor".

The Heel ‘n’ Wheel-a-Thon is our twist on the walk-a-thon theme. Participants of all ages can walk, run, bike, in-line skate or even walk their dog... anything involving their heels or wheels!

This years event will take place at Fish Creek Park.

The Canadian Rockies International Rodeo was started in 1994 as a gay rodeo and continues as an annual event, which is sanctioned by the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA). The three-day rodeo features traditional events, such as bull riding and calf roping, as well as popular camp events, such as goat dressing and wild drag. Held on the outskirts of Calgary in late June.

Step up for dementia! The Investors Group Thanksgiving Memory Walk and Run is set for 10am to 12 noon at Eau Claire Market. Cutting horse competitions got their start in the Wild West, where a good cutting horse was invaluable to cowboys when they were chasing cattle and trying to separate certain individuals from the herd to vaccinate or brand. Now, cutting is one of the world’s fastest growing equine sports with competitions all over North America. In fact, the Calgary Stampede Cutting Horse Futurity presented by Wrangler is one of the highest profile events. From October 12 through 16 the top open and non-professional riders will be in Calgary with their horses in tow. The focus of the event are the Futurity classes – those limited to 3 year old horses – and includes high level competitions for all ages of horses as they advance through their training. It’s an exciting time as these equine athletes show their skills and riders compete for more than $300,000 in cash and awards.

This is a light-hearted hockey game between the Cast and Crew of CBC's Sunday night drama Heartland and Robb Kerr's All Stars (made up of local media, NHL Alumni, Stampeder's and local celebrities).
