Calgary Arenas & Stadiums
The polo club, opened in 1890, offers seven fields and fun for spectators and polo players alike. They offer a polo school and the ability to lease horses. There is a ranch house on-site offering plenty of good food.
The Subway Soccer Centre is North America’s largest indoor soccer facility with a total of nine fields. Outdoor facilities are also available. Other sports are played at the centre in addition to soccer including field hockey, football, lacrosse, lawn bowling, rugby and more. A restaurant, a pub, conference facilities, as arcade and other facilities are located on-site.
Spruce Meadows is a first class equestrian facility, which is world-renowned. Several international horse jumping competitions are hosted here each year. Visitors are welcome to tour the facilties on non-event days.
The Foothills Stadium is home to the Calgary Vipers Professional Baseball Club whose regular season runs from May through September. The venue also hosts other special events, including concerts.
Located on the University of Calgary Campus, the Olympic Oval is one of the finest skating facilities in the world. The oval was originally built for the XV Olympic Winter Games and now serves as a training facility, as well as a public skating facility. A 400 metre skating track and a running track are included within. Hockey skates and speed skates are available for rental.
Located on the Calgary Stampede grounds, the Scotiabank Saddledome is shaped like a giant saddle. This facility has hosted a great variety of events including circuses, concerts, motor sport events, ice shows and more. The Scotiabank Saddledome is home to Calgary’s NHL team the "Calgary Flames," as well as the WHL hockey team the "Calgary Hitmen" and the NLL lacrosse team the "Calgary Roughnecks."
The Max Bell Centre features two ice arenas and can be booked for sporting events and trade shows. It seats 2,121 spectators and has a standing room capacity of 3,000. The Max Bell Centre is currently home to the AAA Midget Northstars and Junior A Canucks hockey teams.
Formerly known as the Calgary Roundup Centre, BMO Centre is used as a venue for a variety of events in the Calgary area. Located at the Calgary Stampede Grounds.
McMahon Stadium opened in 1960 and since has played host to a variety of sporting events, concerts and celebrations. In 1988 the stadium was the site of the opening and closing ceremonies for the XV Olympic Winter Games, which were held in Calgary. The stadium is also home to the Canadian Football League's "Calgary Stampeders" and the "University of Calgary Dinos."
