Calgary Civic Centres & Community Halls
Facilities at the Calgary JCC include an aerobics studio, a fully equipped weight room and cardio centre, a full size gymnasium, and a 25 m lap pool. An array of social, educational and recreational programs are also offered.
Built in the 1920s, this barn was transformed into the Shawnessy Community Centre in the late 1970s. Available for special occasions and other events, the barn can accommodate up to 120 guests and features cedar walls, a fireplace, and sliding doors that open to a patio.
West Hillhurst Community Association offers a fitness centre and a variety of programs and activities for both adults and youth. The facility is located in northwest Calgary.
The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre is one of the largest cultural centres in Canada. Within, the centre features an art gallery, a museum and several businesses. The building also boasts a central dome that was designed to resemble the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The building is open daily.
This community centre houses a gymnasium, a karate and dance studio, and a preschool. Rooms available for rent include a meeting room, great room, boardroom, and the gymnasium.
This community hall has a 100-guest capacity. The hall includes tables, chairs, a kitchen, dishes, glassware, and cutlery. Also featured are hardwood floors.
Oakridge Community Centre
Facilities at this community centre include a main hall with kitchen, a second hall, a boardroom, and a meeting room. The centre also features an indoor ice rink and rink area.
Lake Bonavista Community Centre
Located near Bonavista Lake and Bonaventure Lake, this community centre offers a variety of recreational amenities. The centre features a large ice arena, a small ice arena, a gymnasium, and fitness room. A lounge and multi-purpose room are also available. All rooms, including ice rinks, are available for rent.
Cedarbrae Community Centre
Ideal for children’s parties or small events, the Cedarbrae Community Centre offers two upper rooms with a kitchen and upper balcony. The main level features a full gym with kitchen, also available for rent.
Forest Lawn Community Hall
The Forest Lawn Community Hall offers three rooms for private events, a main hall with kitchen and two smaller halls. A lounge with bar, pool tables, and dart boards is also onsite.
Ramsay Community Hall
Ramsay Community Hall facilities are available for renting and offer a main hall, lower hall, and recreation room. A number of programs are also available at the centre including the Ramsay Seniors Club.
Scenic Acres Community Centre
Available for rent, the main hall at the Scenic Acres Community Centre can accommodate up to 125 people. The hall features amenities such as tables and chairs, a residential kitchen, a built-in sound system, and microphones. A boardroom with blackout blinds and specialized lighting is also available.
Abbeydale Community Hall
Facilities at the Abbeydale Community Hall include a meeting room, a main hall and kitchen with a capacity of 170 guests, and an 80-guest capacity upper hall with bar. The community association also offers before and after school care.
Shaganappi Community Hall
This log cabin style community hall is available for small events and functions. The hall has a capacity of 60 guests and offers a full kitchen and outdoor fire pit. The surrounding area features green space complete with tennis courts.
Forest Heights Community Recreation Centre
This centre has a downstairs lounge and an upstairs main hall available for a variety of private events and parties. The hall has a capacity of 150 while the lounge allows up to 80 guests. The lounge features pool tables, dartboards, and a bar.
Marlborough Park Community Hall
This large facility features amenities such as a full gymnasium, a meeting room, kitchen, and daycare centre.
Whitehorn Community Centre
The Whitehorn Community Centre offers rental services for its main hall and kitchen, and meeting room. Facilities around the area include tennis courts, a hockey rink, and skate room.
Triwood Community Centre
The Triwood Community Centre offers a number of rooms able to accommodate a range of parties and events. A bar area, lounge, and bingo hall are on site. The centre also has an indoor ice arena.
Hounsfield Heights Briar Hill Community Hall
With a full-size gymnasium, the Hounsfield Heights Briar Hill Community Hall is home to a number of athletic and recreational programs. This includes an adult badminton club, self-defense classes, a soccer program, and a playgroup. The gymnasium is available as a rental facility.
Crescent Heights Community Hall
The Crescent Heights Community Hall features a main hall with a fireplace and fully equipped kitchen, an upper hall, and upper deck. A variety of activities and programs are available in the centre such as martial arts classes, a kid’s playgroup, and a music club.
Huntington Hills Community Center
The Huntington Hills Community Association offers a variety of recreation and leisure programs at the centre such as a pre-school program, before and after school care, yoga and Pilates, and karate classes. Facilities are also available for events including the bingo hall and lounge.
Tuxedo Park Community Hall
Available for rent, the Tuxedo Park Community Hall features a main hall with kitchen and serving area, and a lower hall with kitchen. The grounds surrounding the centre offer a playground, a skating rink, a soccer field, and a softball field.
Acadia Recreation Complex
Amenities at the Acadia Recreation Complex include an ice arena, a 10-sheet curling rink, and squash and racquetball courts. A hall, complete with kitchen and a capacity of 320 people, is available for private functions. Other rooms are also available.
Dover Community Hall
Two rooms are available for private functions at the Dover Community Hall. The main hall offers a maximum capacity of 250 people, kitchen, and bar. The centre’s lounge is available for a maximum of 120 guests and offers pool tables, shuffleboards, dartboards, and a fireplace.
Riverbend Community Centre
From 50 guests to 176 guests, the Riverbend Community Centre offers several rooms available for private functions of varying sizes. A large outdoor patio is also available. Programs that operate out of the centre include various dance classes, music instruction, Kumon Math, and art classes.
Southwood Community Centre
Rental options at the Southwood Community Centre include the Pioneer Room complete with full kitchen, the Chateau Room with fireplace, and the Alpine Room with bar area and kitchen.
Cambrian Heights Hall
The Cambrian Heights Hall is able to accommodate a maximum of 150 people for parties and other events. The hall comes equipped with a kitchen and foyer. A number of programs, such as Jazzercise and dance classes, are offered.
Silver Springs Community Centre
This community centre, with various rooms available for rent, features a fully equipped commercial kitchen and carpeted lounge. An outdoor heated swimming pool is also available for rent during July and August.
Beddington Heights Community Centre
Facilities at this community centre are available for rent and include a 400-person main hall, and a lounge complete with a bar, pool tables and dart room. A number of programs and activities are offered at the centre including a play school, before and after school care, martial arts classes, and a lunch program.
Winston Heights Mountview Community Hall
This community centre offers a main hall with hardwood floors and a disco ball, an east hall with bar, and an extended hall able to accommodate up to 200 guests. All halls come equipped with a kitchen. A boardroom is also available.
Monterey Park Community Centre
This community centre offers regular programs throughout the week such as women’s exercise class, Tae Kwon Do classes, and a variety of other programs for children and youth. Jellybean dances are often held as well. The centre also has outdoor tennis courts, softball diamonds, a soccer field, and a tobogganing hill.
Erin Woods Community Centre
Main hall amenities at the Erin Woods Community Centre include a full kitchen, a vaulted ceiling with skylights, and dart board games. The facility is available for rent.
Kingsland Community Centre
The main rental hall at the Kingsland Community Centre features a full kitchen, a bar area, hardwood floors, and large outdoor sun deck. The area surrounding the centre offers an outdoor hockey and lacrosse rink, a softball diamond, and numerous soccer fields. A play school is available at the centre.
Westgate Community Centre
Serving the Westgate Community, this centre offers a 150-person hall, a full kitchen, and clubroom with bar, a large screen TV, and darts games.
Parkland Community Hall
With a maximum capacity of 142 guests, the Parkland Community Hall is ideal for parties and special events. The main hall features hardwood floors, large windows, an outside patio, and kitchen. A boardroom is also on hand.
Millican Ogden Community Centre
Home to a senior’s club, a family resource centre, and lounge, the Millican Ogden Community Centre offers many amenities to residents. Recreational opportunities include an indoor ice arena and an outdoor pool.
Varsity Community Centre
The Varsity Community Centre provides the public with a number of rooms that can accommodate small to large functions. The centre also offers a catering service with table service, BBQs, and buffet options. A dance studio, nursery school, and out-of-school care room are available.
Calgary Marlborough Community Centre
This community centre is located across from Marlborough Mall and within C-Train access. Facilities are wheelchair accessible and offer amenities such as a main hall for up to 400 guests, an upper lounge with fireplace and pool table, and meeting room with attached kitchen. Indoor facilities are also available for volleyball and soccer.
Thorncliffe Greenview Community Centre
At more than 10,000 sq feet (929 sq m), the Thorncliffe Greenview Community Centre is one of Calgary’s larger community halls. The hall comes complete with stage and is available for special events including wedding receptions, trade shows, and banquets. A lounge and rec centre, a 5-pin bowling alley, racquetball courts, and an indoor ice arena are located on site. A number of smaller rooms, including three boardrooms, are also available for rent.
Dalhousie Community Centre
Home to a number of local sport and community groups, this community centre located in Calgary's northwest has a licensed capacity of 350. The hall is available for rental and features a community kitchen, sound system, meeting rooms, an outdoor skating rink and playing field.
Deer Run Community Centre
This community centre offers a number of recreational amenities. The facility features a gymnasium, squash courts, weight room with equipment, and locker room with showers. The centre is also home to a childcare centre and a pre-school. A 200-person hall with kitchen is available for private functions and events.
Temple Community Centre
Available for rent, the Temple Community Centre features a 350-capacity large hall with kitchen and bar, a 150-capacity small hall with kitchen, and a greenroom with bar. The surrounding area features various tennis courts and a hockey rink.
Glendale Community Centre
In addition to hosting community activities and programs, the Glendale Community Centre is available for private events and parties. The main hall features a hardwood dance floor as well as a full kitchen complete with industrial cooler and dishwasher. An outdoor rink is available for use.
Rundle Community Hall
This facility is available for rent and features a main hall that can host up to 225 guests. The hall’s Summit Pub, complete with pool tables and large screen TVs, often hosts community parties and is available for rent. Outdoor facilities include tennis courts, a hockey rink, and basketball courts. A boardroom is also available.
Bowness Community Hall
Located in the northwest community of Bowness, the Bowness Community Hall is mostly used for meetings and gathering by local groups and organizations. The space can also be used for concerts, dances, weddings and other special occasions.
Edgemont Community Hall
With a view of the Rocky Mountains, the Edgemont Community Hall is available for rent for special events including wedding receptions. The hall’s 200-capacity Panorama Room offers an outside patio, full kitchen, and podium. The Fireside Room comes complete with fireplace and outside patio. A number of services are available including china and silverware, glassware, hall setup, and after event cleaning.
Pineridge Community Centre
The Pineridge Community Centre offers a variety of events for community members including Jelly Bean dances and Crib & Euchre Card Nights. The facilities are available for rent.
Arbour Lake Community Centre
Amenities at the Arbour Lake Community Centre include kitchenettes, TV and screen, and tables with chairs. Available for rent, the hall is able to host a maximum of 192 people.
McKenzie Lake Community Centre
This southeast community centre offers residents an array of programs including a preschool program, a variety of fitness programs, dance classes, and is also home to a number of clubs. Community events, such as Jelly Bean dances, are held throughout the year.
Lady Fatima Community Centre
Lady Fatima Community Centre is part of the Our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Church. Special events are held in the community centre.
Rosemont Community Hall
The Rosemont Community Association offers a number of activities and programs available at this community centre including yoga, Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, and an art club. Located in Confederation Park, the main hall is available for rent.
Canyon Meadows Community Centre
Facilities and services at the Canyon Meadows Community Centre include a main hall with patio, kitchen, and coatroom. A second hall and meeting room are also available. The centre serves the communities of Canyon Meadows, Woodbine, and Woodlands Woodcreek.
South Calgary Activity Centre
Mainly serving residents of south Calgary, this community centre offers an outdoor pool and billiards hall. A main hall and lower hall are also available for renting.
Willow Ridge Community Centre
Located just north of the Willow Park Golf and Country Club, this community centre offers its facilities for rent. The community association also offers a play school and a before and after school care program at the centre.
Glamorgan Community Centre
The Glamorgan Community Centre hosts a wide variety of community events and private functions. The large main hall can accommodate a maximum of 200 guests while a smaller seminar room has a 70-guest capacity. A downstairs carpeted conference room can accommodate 45 people.
