Calgary Squares & Plazas
Found in front if St. Mary’s Cathedral, Rouleauville Square marks the area that in 1899 was known as the Village of Rouleauville. The plaza is made up of 12 interpretive panels that describe the site as well as a sculptured brick mural that tells the story of Rouleauville.
Unveiled in January 2006, this plaza stands in honour of Calgary’s firefighters and police officers who have lost their lives during duty. Located in front of the Municipal building at City Hall, the tribute consists of two monuments. The Walls of Memory features the history of the Police and Fire Services and represents strength and commitment while the Lantern of Light is a three-story tower featuring coloured glass that is illuminated at night.
