Avatamsaka Monastery
The Calgary Branch of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association took form in l987. Dedicated to bringing the teachings of the Buddha to the West, the dharma center offers education in meditation, formal ceremonies and lectures on the sutras of Mahayana Buddhism.

Cathedral Church of the Redeemer

Trinity Lutheran Church
This historic church is one of the few remaining buildings of the original Eau Claire district along the Bow River in downtown Calgary. Built in 1924 by landed Norwegians, the church is a simple wooden structure and a reminder of past years amidst downtown's looming skyscrapers. Sunday worship is held regularly.

This 500-seat Catholic Church first opened in 1930 after almost 20 years of the parish’s desire for a more permanent and larger building. St. Mary's Cathedral
Initially completed in 1889 as a sandstone structure, St. Mary’s Cathedral now constitutes a gothic style building where the only remains of the first church are four bells originally cast in France. The cathedral interior also features mosaics and marble imported from Italy, stained glass from Germany, and bronze works from Ireland.
The building’s central tower features a 16-foot-tall statue of the Virgin Mary with Child, which was designed by a Calgary sculptor. Construction of the current structure began in 1955 when the sandstone building was demolished. It was finally completed in 1957 with its official consecration in December of that year.
